Default RG fairing re-install

Just put in new speakers and hidden antenna under fairing on 04 RG. Can't get fairing lined up with bracket hooks. What's the secret, two people? can one do it reasonably ok?

I've read the key is to remove the headlite assembly and align stuff behind there. Do a search, there have been several threads about it. Good luck.

I have a simliar problem with mine. I had a buddy over to help me and after several attemps, the cheap design that Harley uses to for the posts for the upper screws split on me. I had to get some 2 part epoxy and put it around each one to tighten the screw posts up. It worked but I now have a small gap on the top of the fairing.
I called my buddy who is a parts manager a Harley dealer and got a winshield rubber strip, cut it to fill the gap in and its working.

I would check those posts on the inside of your outer fairing shell to make sure they havent split on you. Also a extra pair of hands is a big help

Good luck

It can be done by yourself. Patience. I put some masking tape along the top sides of the painted fairing then I hooked up the headlight/antenna wire, then held it like cradling a baby and leaned up and in to get the support hooks aligned and engaged. once you get it hung you can play with the lock tabs. I usually put 2 top screws in a couple turns to keep it from falling off while I hook everything up. Never forget you are tightening screws into plastic, the more you r&r the screws the more you wear out the holes, and the more chance you have of breaking them. When you do this and youre not really in the mood for a tedious task, walk away and come back another time or you will be breaking things.

this is the way. There are some green tabs that on the bolts holding your headlight assembly to the fairing. Un clip those. When you go put your fairing back on, you can see the hooks right where the headlight was supposed to be. Makes it very easy to line up and push in place with out the head light there.

Then you can just snap in / push in the headlight back on.

I tried for about 20 minutes.....took the headlight off and it was on in 2 minutes!!

+1 Bagman...took my fairing off numerous times and finally got the nack of it. Just patience and knowing where the hooks are. Once the hooks grab, u can release and start the screws. U'll get it.

As stated above, take the headlight assembly out. However, place a towel on the fender when doing the reinstall to protect it. I have removed the fairing several times and it only takes about 30 seconds to get it back on when the headlight is removed. If it is not, nothing but frustration.
