Default Exhuast Question

My roadking has rinehart true duels with the ECM? download from HD and I was wondering if I could put the original exhaust back on without any problems? I am waiting on my replacement rear header from BUB but that is going to take 3 weeks. I cant continue to use the old rinehart header because it is trashed. Also, If i did put the originals back on and then replace them in 1 month with the TD's would I need another download? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should be ok as long as you use your Rinehart mufflers. It might be a little rich running. Best was to check it is to take it out for an hour and after you get back and the engine has cooled down. Pull the plugs and check the color of the tips. They should be a little gray for normal operation. Whits is too lean, black is too rich

Hope this helps yah

I think you're probably ok as long as your air filter is stock and all you've done is changed the pipes and mufflers. If you go with a high-flow air filter (Screamin' Eagle, K&N, Big Sucker, etc.) you're brining more air into the motor, and accordingly you'll need more fuel in the ratio too. That said, its probably good you have the download to richen the ratio because HD touring models are set up to run lean from the factory.

Yet another reason NOT to have the Dealer do a Upload and go with a Fuel Management System..

If you slap the OEM's back on and still using the Stage Air kit - You may run rich... Rich isn't near a bad as running LEAN. and if go back on with the RHTD you should be OK.

I have had my rear header on my RHTD changed 3 times with the '01 RKC

Update. So I put the original headers back on but realized that the Rinehart Mufflers are 2", the original headers are 1.5" I think? Did not see any adapters for that size in JP or Dennis Kirk. So how about putting on the original mufflers and just drill out the baffles and run it like that for now? I do have the Stage 1 download set up to run with an SE AC and RH TD's. Or should I just bite the bullet and wait until my new header arrives?

Did you have to replace the header with the new and improved mounting system 3x or did they send you the older versions at first?

I'd do, it can't see that it would hurt a thing other than it might run just a little rich. I just switched from RH duals to a Fatcat with no remap and it runs better than it ever did before.
