Some dealer buy their oil in bulk-drums-and amke a killing on sales.Whose to say that oil wasnt contaminated while sitting around.Bet he couldnt prove that! The case was most likely cracked during stud install, again dealer wont have much to stand on since they did the repairs. I hate storys like this because calmer heads couldve ended this before getting out of hand. What ever happened with standing behind your work, behind your product??I have bashed HD more than most and its not outta hate but the concern that they are committing suicide.
Dude, my Bro had numerous problems with his Harley. The dealership sucked. He called Harley directly and they agreed to buy back his 07 Street Glide at sticker price if he agreed to buy an 09 at sticker. He took off all of the aftermarket parts, sold them and then paid about $1500. for a brand new bike. Three words "Lemon Law" and "Lawyer".
It has been my experience, in the automotive world, that when a vehicle is "bought back," it is sent back to the manufacturer for inspection/repair and then sold through an auto auction possibly as a "program car." They are alomost always sold at some point. Very seldom are they scrapped. Some poor soul, who can't afford a new car, or who gets a "steal of a deal," just may be getting a lemon. Occasionally, they go straight to the auction rather than going back to the manufacturer.
Thats not what I meant,Im talking about a bike which was bought back under lemon law and dealer that ended up with bike from this transaction reselling bike as used to unsuspecting owner. Title never tagged as lemon,no way of new owner ever knowing bikes true history?
Somehow I think this story is missing something??? Dealer did the work but wont warrant the work? Cylinder walls scorn, oil pump failed, leaks probably due from shop work. For one it sounds like you may be experiencing crank slippage, low oil pressure, junk pump, worn out piston and rings. HD doesnt or hasnt learned how to deal with a customer after the sale.Sounds like your dealer isnt on your side either. Customer service is made to follow guidelines usually not in your favor either. Being a nice guy will get you nothing, learn how to kick and scream beyond chat rooms like this. Start by filing a complaint w/ NHTSA and with your states attorney.HD will have to answer the complaint eventually! Both are free and will get you beyond C/S level if you still own the bike. Talk to a lawyer about a lemon law suit and if you use this route, make sure the bike isnt resold as a used bike!
Don't be a nice guy..they don't give a f*ck about you...this is such BS!!!...get a copy of all receipts for oil/filter bought...file a complaint, get a lawyer, call NEWS12, they'd love a juicy story like this...good luck...cya down the road
I hope they get you taken care of! IMO they owe you more than to repair the bike at this point, it is really hard to put a price on the frustration and stress you have been through. My bike has seen it's last trip to my local dealer after the left the caliper bolts loose while they were redoing a front tire that they put on backwards!!! Guess I will do all the work I can on my bike from now on, at least if I screw something up I don't have to pay myself for it.
Calmer heads could have and should have prevailed. Even if the MOCO does the right thing, at best this dealer has lost me as a customer. From them over the last year(Due mostly from this forum) I have purchased from them IDS, Road Zepp seat,Oil Cooler, Oil temp gauge, Highway pegs, front fork baffle, and at least $700.00 worth of other chrome goodies. This winter I planned on lots more(as soon as I could find where the wife hid the credit card). They will never see another hard earned dollar for me again.

I feel certain you will get a satisfactory resolution. Do your best to maintain a professional demeanor with the rep. Then when everything is exactly the way you want it go find a Squiggy and club Lenny the sevice guy to death with him. Sorry I couldn't help myself. Good luck to you.
I am a long time Mechanic (Forensic and Engineering). Sometimes I check warranty claims at Harley Dealers (others too) and they are right on with there diagnoses most of the time. But sometimes they cause a problem and start imagineering there way out. Call that lawer mentioned earlyer no need to wait. crack? sounds like a missed or incomplete first visit diagnoses. I can't wait to hear the end of this. Good luck (call the Lawer)
