The first time I used one was at HD demo day in Charlotte on an Ultra...I really screwed the shifting up a couple of times but after I got my bike and started using it, I will leave it on. I use it all the time...BTW, I have size 12's myself. Try it for a while, then decide if you don't want it.

I wear a 15. My solution was Soos' 1" extenders for the floorboards and extended shift levers, +1" in the front and +1.5" in the back. Gives me plenty of room.

Bought a new SG today. Had the dealer take it off and put the cap on before I left.

Same problem,I were a 14 boot,The darn thing just always was in the way,I think that thing was one of those things the engeners sitting around in the office had to come up with or get fired. They should have gotten fired.
I don't really see a purpose for it,oh I know what it for but to me its not even practical to use your heel to shift.
The only thing I can think of is it keeps you from wearing a place on the top of your shoe.

I have floorboard spacers on my bike to move my boards out. If you don't have them, you should consider getting them. They come in 3/4" and 1". Makes the floorboards much more comfortable.

I also removed my heel shifter and installed a spacer to move the lever out where I can get to it since the boards are moved out also.

Try the New Way Shifter, www.newwayshifter.com. With this shifter all you do is push down on either the inside lever for downshifting and the outside lever for upshifting. Only takes a few short rides to learn and gives you more floorboard space. Fits on touring models and takes about 30 minutes to install, no drilling or modifications needed.
