I went from Windsor Ca to Teluride CO this June on my 99 wide glide. What a great trip. STOPPED IN RENO on my way home and came back on a new ULTRA CLASSIC. Wow what a treat. Wish i had bought her years ago!!!
Now we're getting to the kind of weather that is why I changed to the Ultra. Fog, rain, cold...don't care. Bring on more of that engine heat. 11K and still loving it.
20,000 miles and change on my 07 Ultra. Bought new in June of 07.
Can't say enough good about her! About 1/4 of those miles loaded two up.
It is refreshing to hear good stuff for a change!!!
made it back home safely after 4400 miles, Canyon and back.
played 'tourist' in TN, Ruby Falls. The ride up Lookout Mountain is an adventure in itself.
Anyway, the co-pilot (wife) and I are back home with beacoup memories and already talking about our next big ride.
The 'beast' was just terrific. The only bad thing I can say about it is that's it's too smooth and hypnotic at speed. Just eats up those miles without a whimper. Kinda puts you in a trance.
My co-pilot said she wants to trade every 2 years. Who am I to say no?
Rode to the Grand Canyon from Atlanta. Then on through several states, AZ, NM, OK, KS, IL,KY, TN, and now back in Georgia, 2 hours from home.
Bike has performed admirably, with no problems whatsoever. Mountains, curves, sweepers, straightaways. Handled them all with aplomb.
Btw, if you want a road that'll put the Dragon to shame, try AZ191 from Clifton to Springerville.
Cruised mostly @ 75mph, 2 up full load. High 30's gas mileage, even with ethanol.
Can't say enough about how great this bike is. Stock, no mods, and gonna stay that way.
Have had it 5 months and will take it in for 15k service this week.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Ride safely, folks.
Good report. Nice to see someone who bought a touring bike and just went ridin' instead of messin'.
I bought my 07 in Aug 06 and now have 23,000 miles on it. It is completely stock. I commute on it daily and we did 4000 miles in 14 days, NM to Glacier NP and Canada in July. Two up and LOADED. The wife has to have her comforts.
We averaged 45 mpg with highs over 50 mpg. Yes I have had a couple warrenty issues, but the local dealer (Thunderbird HD in Albuquerque) has been excellent in resolving them. All issues were resolved the 1st time with no drama.
My only complaint is that it is dirty more than its clean, LMAO, could be that I ride more than I clean, LOL.
