Rode to the Grand Canyon from Atlanta. Then on through several states, AZ, NM, OK, KS, IL,KY, TN, and now back in Georgia, 2 hours from home.
Bike has performed admirably, with no problems whatsoever. Mountains, curves, sweepers, straightaways. Handled them all with aplomb.
Btw, if you want a road that'll put the Dragon to shame, try AZ191 from Clifton to Springerville.
Cruised mostly @ 75mph, 2 up full load. High 30's gas mileage, even with ethanol.
Can't say enough about how great this bike is. Stock, no mods, and gonna stay that way.
Have had it 5 months and will take it in for 15k service this week.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Ride safely, folks.
Good stuff dinkydow, feel the same way about my 06 ugly roadglide. Rode 4927 miles back in August and couldnt have ask for a more reliable vehicle. We tried hard to kill the starter from Jackson WY, Yellowstone, and through Big Horn pass b/c we were stopping to rubber neck every wide spot we could find.
I've been on that stretch of 191 and you're right about a nice ride. Seemed like 80 to 90 miles of never ending switch backs. Thought I read somewhere where it was only a little over a 100 turns.
Recently took a similar trip on my 08 Ultra and share your opinion. A great bike that does everything you expect of it. I've had mine a little less than 4 months and have just under 12K on it. Ride on!
You know, I've had four baggers. One Classic and three Ultras and that's exactly how I feel about all of them. They have all been good for me. Makes me really happy to know others feel the same way about their Ultras! Dam good scooters! ENJOY!
I went from a '97 sportster to my '08 Ultra, so I guess I'm easily impressed. But I AM impressed! 10,000+ miles since April, and we are still grinning from ear to ear!
I rode my bone-stock 2008 UC 2500 miles in 5 days. 40+ mpg at 75mph average thru mountains, oceanside roads, and high desert. Temps from 40's to 100+. Performed perfectly. A little hi-speed wobble in the 75+ mph mountain curves, but I consider that "personality". I love my UC.
