From Cycle World's October 2008 Issue, an article on eight different baggers, Page 51, 6th Paragraph. "The Harley Road King -despite being a lame duck model that gets replaced next year - finished second ..."
Is 2009 the last year for the Road King? What, if anything, have you all heard about this? Is he replacement going to be similar or fairing bike?
I've not heard anything. The RK's have been good sellers for the company, so unless they've got something better than a Road King (the thought is heresy!) they're making a mistake.
It can't be referring to the 2007 Custom since it's the October 2008 issue. At least, if they were then that wouldn't make sense.
HD may not bring back the Road King CLASSIC, but that's not what Cycle World wrote. I'll repeat the quote, "The HARLEY ROAD KING - despite being a lame duck model that gets replaced next year - finished second, followed by the ... [it goes on to list which bikes finished in which order]"
I hope they do get rid of it. I already got mine. That just means there will be less of them on the road. I do think it would be stupid for HD to do, though.
I believe they mean the 2008 is the last year for the "old" chassis design and is being replaced by the 2009 "new" chassis design. The model itself should continue being produced.
