Default Heated Socks?

So anyone here using the heated socks? What do you think of them? I found some for $49 here http://cozywinters.com/heated-clothing/ that are compatible with the HD heated gear.

My feet tend to get cold very easily and even with "skiing" socks on my feet were frozen after 20 miles at 34*. I do have some soft lowers coming which should help, but right now my feet are my only concern for cold weather riding.

Does anyone make battery operated socks in that same price range?

A pair of winter, water-proof AND wind-proof boots and my feet are fine with regular socks. They need to be wind-proof, if not even heated socks won't help much

Yes!

Just a couple points on heated socks...

(1) wires on the bottom of the foot can be very uncomfortable to walk on, even short distances. Select a pair that either have no wires on the bottom or are very well padded;

(2) you'll have to contend with the wiring harness that runs down each leg and out of the top of each sock. Most wiring extends out the top of the sock and must be looped under the cuff of your jeans unless you feed the wiring harness under your jeans.

Heated socks became too much of a hassle for me and I elected to purchase a decent pair of insulated boots instead.

Hope that helps!

Just get some gortex lined boots, water proof them, and some good boot socks. worked for me in extreme conditions in the Army.

Its a tough call, $50 for the socks with some hassles, or $100-120 for a decent pair of boots. I think my normal boots are windproof, I dont feel wind penetrating them just that the leather gets cold and my feet are cold when its cold out.

Most sporting goods stores sell battery operated heated socks. You don't have to contend with wiring. You do however have to contend with batteries. This isn't much of a hassle if you go with rechargable.

If they are just leather boots, chances are they are NOT windproof. The holes that the stitching makes in leather are huge when compared to a textile garment. I've since learned that textile is a far better weather garment than leather. I have a Alpinestars leather jacket. Very thick, very heavy, with quilted liner and all. I also have a thin, textile jacket. That textile jacket is twice as good at keeping me warm than the leather is. I can feel the wind get through my leather, while I get nothing through the textile. Boots would be the same.
