Ok, I know there have been a lot of post on this one however I have a question, already made the investment and installed on my bike. However I have recently upgrade to a hid headlight and with the Balist and starter inline it no longer works off of the bright switch.
Wondering if anyone has any experiance with this and has come up with an alertative hook up for the HD devices to get around this issue?
Since you already have the HD receiver plugged in your garage, HD sells a stand alone transmitter to work with the receiver. It's about half the size of a credit card and you can velcro it to your dash.
No reason your original setup should have stopped working thou.

Yea I know about that but hate to spend the $50.00 being I already have the working unit and it is a very clean setup. Will look as the portable key fob transmitter as last resort.
Yep, it's because the HID lights have a diode on the bright side of the wiring to flip the mirror on the HID lamps. That diode does not allow the power to get to the garage transmitter to send the signal to open the garage door. I found this out too, but I haven't found a way to have both(I'm not that great with electrical stuff ) I opted to take out the HID as I use the garage door opener far more times than I ride at night
Can't you use any switch (acc. switch?) on the bike that will send 12v to the transmitter so the signal can be sent to open the door? Doesn't have to be the headlight switch.

That's right, you can. You could even spend a few bucks and buy a mini-switch (momentary on), then mount it someplace that can't be seen (like behind the edge of your seat). Then you just reach under the edge, and push the button when you want to open the door.
