Looking into a HD combo speedo/tach for my 2006 RKC (can't get used to riding without a tach). The HD info says 'plug' in. Can anyone verify that this is true? Don't want to get into any wiring. Thanks.
I did the swap myself at the house. You can order the tack/speedo with the approx miles you will have on your bike at the time of the swap.
One thing you have to be aware off is this............
The orination(sp) of the plug-in is in a different location than the stocker. So you must "adjust" the factory wiring for extra slop/length, so you will have enough wire to plug-in.
If I remember right, the factory stocker plugs in at 7o'clock, and the new unit plugs in at 2o'clock.
No big deal
If I'm not mistaken, there is a pink tach wire that you need to pull out of the headlight nacell and pull through to the tach. My friend did this on his and he was good to go, but his was a 2002. I'm not sure about newer bikes. I'm on an Ultra so I don't need that mod.
