Default heritage bars on 08 roadglide?

i was at harley shop asking about handle bar options.. i was thinkin of wide glide bars... i really liked the feel on wide glide i had before over road glide bars..

i was told i cant use wide glide on 08 RG due due electronic throttle? but that they had a new heritage style handlebar designed for newer road kings and road glides? is this my only option?

and anyone know how much different heritage bars will be from stock road glide bars? i want bars to reach back more so i can lean back more.

i am 6ft and about 215 lbs

I went with the Heritage bars in January before the new ones were out. I took the new bars, the old bars and the throttle sensor to a machinist and have been comfortable ever since. No reason the wide glide bars could not be done that way. It is not a hard job to do the switch just follow the manual and common sense. With a dremel tool and steady hand you could leave out the machinist.

I can't speak for a Road Glide, but I did put a set of Heritage bars on my Road King. They're about 2" higher and have a little more pullback than stock. Much easier on the upper back and not so hunched forward while riding.

My RK doesn't have the TBW, but the change was well worth the couple of hours it took me to do the swap and the bars were relatively inexpensive to boot.

Heritage bars are the bars of choice in my neighborhood.

I put Khrome Werks Wide Sweeper +2 on my 2007 RG. I visually compared the wideglide and heritage bars by holding them on the bike and was concerned that I would not get the pull back that I wanted. Sweeper +2 gives 2" rise and pull back. I am glad that I went with the Sweepers. The first thing I noticed was the more comfortable wrist position and then I went for a ride. Wow, what a difference! I was pleasently surprised at how much less effort it seemed to take to move the bars. Plus, now I could sit back and be comfortable, no leaning forward to reach the bars.

I did not have to change any cables or wires. I did have to reroute the clutch cable but I have been told you have to do that with the wideglide and heritage bars also. Either reroute or buy a longer clutch cable. I have had several people sit on the bike and comment on how much better the new bars feel.

I am 5'11" and 240. Oh cost of Sweepers is $65.00.

I forgot to mention that they have bars for the 08 and 09 bikes.

+1 on the Sweeper bars.

I recently installed a set of Khrome Werks 300515 +2 Wide Sweeper bars on my 2008 Street Glide and ran the wire internally. Here a write-up on the process, along with these pics.

Default heritage bars on 09 RG

I put the heritage bars on my 09 RG and very happy with result. I'm 6'1" and it puts me in a much better position. With stock bars I got a lot of soreness between the shoulders. I've still got the stock seat but want to switch to a sundowner. Not sure if that'll put me up too close or back too far, hopefully it won't change. Putting them on was not difficult but definetly need the service manual.

I have a set of Heritage bars on the shelf in my garage that belong to my buddy. He's said he'd take 'em away about 5 times now and they still sit here. I'll bet he'd probably take $25.00 for them if you're interested.

I am only about 5'7", with the stock bars I was reaching to keep both hands on the bars and leaning back against the backrest meant 1 handed or finger tips. Now I can kick back, put the feet out on the highway pegs and keep both hands on the bars comfortably.

I did 185 miles with the stock bars and hated it. I now have 9400 on the clock and love it each and every time I get on it. Best money I spent.
