All great winterizing suggestions so far, but one that I always do is put 'plain' steel wool in the ends of the exhaust pipes to keep out rodents. I say plain because I once had a box of Brillo pads in the garage, and wouldn't you know it, mice were attracted to the soap on the Brillo pads and ate the soap and most of the pad!
I also keep a few of those bait pellet boxes along the garage floor up against the walls to ensure that if a rodent finds it's way into the garage, it will be attracted to the pellet station (and eat said pellets and disappear) rather than snuggling up underneath the sheets I have on the bike, or worse yet, infiltrating some cozy area on the bike and calling it home (and you know they will eat the seat cushion, chew through wiring and anything else they want to do).
