I have been looking for a new bike for a few weeks now. I sold my 06 1200C last week and now money is burning a hole in my pocket! I have narrowed it down to a 2009 Street Glide in pewter denim. the only problem the ones around here don't have the ABS option. I got a price out the door of MSRP with possibility of a $500 gift card. I need to really be 100% on what bike I want before I do my hard negotiations. I never had a bike with ABS so I don't know that I would regret not having it but then again I have never ridden a bike as big as a street glide.
i am glad i don't have it simply because i have never used it, and i feel comfortably with my bike, but many say that's it's the only way to go. i think more than anything it's what you get used to.
I opted not to have it. I like the feel of the non-abs system better, plus I never ride in the rain where I think the system best comes into play. I'm not knocking it, safty wise you can't beat it. and also it helps resale value very much. Just my 2 cents, Putt
I hope not. You will only miss it if you need it. Kind of like insurance. I have it on my 08' RG. The other day I hit the brakes on a wet road a little too hard and may have laid it down without them. Never know. T.
If you are going to spend the money, might as well get what you want and not settle. I have it on my 09' Ultra, my 05' Ultra didn't have it, I wish it did on several occasions.
Yes, wish I had them. I dont need them to ride and I know how to brake but I surprised myself one night on the highway when I rounded a corner and saw a deer. I panic braked for a split second and only applied the rear and heard a skid and immediatley took correct control of the brakes but it surprised me that I did that, I grew up riding and racing. Just goes to show you no matter how good you are you can still have a senior moment!!
