I use both ... and LIKE IT! I would like to move the heel shifter back 3 inches or so though.
Bubba's Brake makes a superb heel shifter. Had one on my 2003 FLHR & loved it. Have one ordered for my 2009 FLRH. Link included, super high quality part!
I use the toe heel shifters always.I put the longer ones on and have 14 inches between thempleny of room to move my foot around in....once you get use to using the heel you'll find as I did ...it works well....but to each there own
I was accelerating onto a highway onramp one day when my Road King was fairly new...got into my lane and went to step on the heel shifter to kick it into 5th gear...and it was gone. I found myself delighting in the newfound room for greater foot movement and when I got home I took the back arm off the assembly.
A couple of years later I bought a Heritage Springer and that was one of the first things I did to her...remove the rear shifter arm.
