My Goldwings starting in 1988 until 2006 all had reverse on them. It will spoil a person for sure. Especially in those gravel parking lots and other parking places that always seem to have the wrong slop when you're trying to back up.

Hey Guys,, I too am thinking about a reverse kit for my 2010 Limited. I do wish all the nay sayers would just go to the thread for "just bitchin about stuff", so those of us who truly want to learn about the system and its reliability could gain some useful info.
SO. has anyone installed the Champion or AIM unit? If so does it function as advertised and is it reliable? Was the install as simple as indicated?

Many thanks to our military for protecting us!!!!!!!

I know this is a very late response but I'd ask blarg to try doing this with a 300 lb motorcycle, then try to imagine doing it with a 900 lb motorcycle, specially if it's sporting a full fairing (handlebar or frame mounted, take your pick!) and they'll have their answer!

Not every one is 6 foot or over 200 lbs so smaller people might need some help some times personally I don't need one but have few friends and wife weighing 128lbs rides UC will love to have it.

Well, I am just over 6' tall and 230 lbs and I still have issues back peddling the bike under certain conditions. A fully loaded Ultra is darned close to half a ton in weight and I don't care who you are, that can be a royal PITA to back up sometimes.

Simply paying attention to what you're doing while parking the bike can pay "big" dividends when it's time to leave but sometimes the options just aren't very convenient and a reverse opens a lot of doors that would otherwise be closed tight. I rode a 93 Goldwing for six years. I tried to not use the reverse any more than I had too but when I did really need it, it was a gift from heaven.

I haven't put a reverse system on my Ultra yet. Don't know if I will. So far, it's not really been an issue but it's been close a couple of times. I may yet add it at some point but I certainly won't fault anyone who decides to!

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

Not trying to be a smart ***, but why back up an incline. Why not drive up and roll back down?

Well, there you go using that logic thing again!

I've been in a few places where there was a small dip, usually there for drainage reasons, that you had to ride through in order to park the bike, or car, or whatever. The point is, there was a slight downhill, followed by an uphill leading to the parking spot. Only problem is, when you back out, that downhill leading into the parking spot becomes an uphill getting back out. You can try to build up a little momentum backing up but balancing a 1000 lbs bike that's getting a little too fast in reverse can get "real" interesting, "real" fast!

Sooner or later, there's going to be some situation where it just not possible to avoid having to push the bike up some kind of incline. It's up to the individual to decide how much of an issue it is for them. My bike was three years old this February (my, how time flies!) and I haven't been particularly motivated to spend the money on a reverse system but that could still change at any time!

FWIW!
Ride Safe,
Steve R.
