I think we all do but sooner or later there comes a time when we're forced into a parking situation that will require backing the bike. I rode a Goldwing for six years and tried very hard to not put the bike in a position where I'd have to use the reverse because I didn't want to put the added wear and tear on the starter system. Even at that, I still had a few times through the years were I really needed that system and I was darned glad I had it. In the case of the aftermarket versions that are added to the transmission itself, the concerns I had with the Wing don't apply and I can understand the alure of not having to worry where or how the bike is parked. It's not a cheap add-on through and not one I'm in any hurry to add at this point.

Steve R.

DON'T NEED IT! I believe in the KISS method: Keep it simple Stupid! The day I need reverse is the day I start looking at Trikes!

Yeah, thats what I said about electric starters, springs in the rear and chokes on fuel injected engines...Who needs them? Now, wouldn't have a bike without them. Times change!

There have been a few times when I'd have given up my left one for a reverse. I try to not park in a way that I get trapped but sometimes....

I had a Goldwing for 10 years. With back issues I am strongly considering it.
I don't think so...The trike has a separate starter motor mounted on the differential that engages with a ring gear when activated...I don't see any possible way to convert Harley's trike reverse to a two wheel bike...Have you got a source for your info?

No problem I can push just about any motorcycle backwards from the front..I have probably got as many miles pushing bikes backwards as some people have ridden them forward.

At which point, you'll definitely need that reverse and all the associated complexity that goes with it! So much for the KISS principle.

I've never been a fan of vehicles with an odd number of wheels. Tried a Harley trike once at a factory demo ride day at a local dealer. It was an interesting experience and I'm glad I tried it but pretty much came away from it with the attitude of, "no way!" I wouldn't mind trying a Can-Am just for the comparison but, for me I think, if I get to the point where two wheeling it isn't an option anymore, I'll find me a nice roadster and go from there. To each their own though!

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

I'm interested in a reverse option. No need for me to justify it on here or make excuses for wanting it. Just makes sense to have it, at least for those that want it. If all i have to do is pull a leaver that backs the bike up for me, it's all good in my books.
