Default Lose the bag rails?

I really like the looks of no bag rails, but want to keep the guards in front of the bags. So, to those of you who have done this, what did you do about the holes in the guards that the rails were in??? Any pics would be good.

If your guards and rails are in excellent condition, you will be able to sell your take-offs for the cost of the HD replacement guards (standard or comfort profile) and avoid the whole/hole issue.

HD has some chrome allen hole plug that if you spread the tabs a little and put some silicone on will work. Nothing is going to fit perfect since is not a round hole and it's a bar. I don't remeber which plugs but probable the 3/8 94531-95.

I'd be interested to know how long it takes to remove both sides completely, and is there a downside to them being off?
I mean, I've tipped the bike once from a standstill, and it was the front engine guards/highway pegs that saved the day, not the rear guards.

Just put the saddlebag support kit 46565-04 $199.95 on. It shouldn't take very long, probable 30-45 min.

That's a typo: page 406 of the catalog shows a list price of $139.95, which is what I used. Sold my stock take-offs for $175+.

Jared Lee used what looks like grab rail bar fillers on his bag bar. I'm not a fan of spiky things, but it's a good idea.

The hinges on the saddlebag are sold by Richard Pomeroy who also sells virtually identical hinges for Tour Paks. His email address is dickelk@aol.com. The police hinges sell for $173.50 a set (two for each bag), and the TP hinges $93.50 a pair, delivered USPS Priority Mail.
I'm not affiliated with Dick, just a happy purchaser of his TP hinges. A buddy has the saddlebag hinges on his '06 FLHPI, and they are a huge improvement over the OEM strap hinges.
