I had my bike Dyno at The bike Riley in Ruidoso, NM they talked me in to putting on Rinehart Mufflers Eagle Beak. I never noticed until the next day that the right muffler had turned yellow. I tried calling them (Cycle Solutions Inc) but they would not return my call. Is this normal with a Dyno? Has this happened to you.
P.S. My # where max HP- 75.35 max torque 88.61 Had Power Comander ll also that I instaled.
Mine looks just like that. Did yours turn yellow after Duno?
Nope running 90 down the interstate did it..same differance ......some of the aftermarket chrome gets yellow like that when exposed to high heat,it was really noticeable on chrome after the early 90's due EPA and the FOC,called Browns Chromeing about the heat shields I done on the 80 FLT they too started to yellow from the heat also...
It will be interesting to see what happens to the Rush slip-ons I put on my 06 Deluxe after the Dyno nxt month...
I also think it has a lot to do with the company that chrome's the parts too,as in if they try to skimp....
It happened to me also. I know when they dyno they take engine up to high rpms. Ranges that we dont normally ride ex. 5,300- 5,500 rpms. this can definetly cause blueing or yellowing of pipes. Try some nevr-dull and some auto-sol, seemed to work for me. Although i have heat shields, but not on the back of the pipes of course. I noticed the yellow reflecting off my tranny cover where there is no shield.
I have been told that if your pipes turn gold then it is rich and if they turn blue it is lean. Not much will help now unless you have them re chromed.

Not true. Yellow to gold to blue is simply indicates the peak temperature that the chrome has experienced. From your handy-dandy Machinery Handbook:
440*F - Light yellow
500*F - Brown yellow
530*F - Light purple
560*F - Full blue
Make sure it is not lean and just polish out the yellow. Hope this helps.
A dyno enviroment needs to have fans on the exhaust systems as exh pipe temps can easily reach 600 degrees causing discoloration. This can also affect the scavenging of the exhaust system. On our dyno we have 2500 CFM of air on the exhaust system which prevents any discoloration.
