Scares me that I asked the head service guy at my local dealer ship and he wasn't sure said I would need to comeback after he looked into it. I thought that would be something he would no b/c so many people change the tire size on the SG's
That would probably be the only reason why not to get it that I could think of. I'll bet not too many people have gone to the dealership looking for larger tires yet, which is why your guy wouldn't know. Now if you asked somebody at an indy, they've probably come across it.

Yes!!
I was looking for a bike without ABS because I was of the mindset that it was just one more gadget to go wrong that I didn't need. I have raced bikes on street and dirt extensively even doing some stunts on sport bikes. I didn't think I needed it. I fell in love with an '09 street glide that I couldn't live without that had ABS so now I have ABS. I did some practice stops and will definitely strongly reccomend it to anyone now that I am used to it. I am glad I have it. It has kicked in in wet conditions several times and prevented skids. Yesterday I was riding aggressively through some twisties with friends and came over a rise to have a cow in the road. Hard braking at 100+ mph and no loss of control and no hitting the cow. Everyone else locked up and lost control to some extent. No one wrecked, fortunately.

Another reason. I really don't want to skid the front tire of an 800+ lb bike. This was no big deal on my GSXR because it was so light but the weight of a touring bike will make it very difficult to keep the wheel straight in a lockup situation.

All that said, it does take some getting used to. I would definitely practice so it doesn't feel so strange when it does kick in.

Scasey, according to the Owners Manual. A bike with ABS needs to keep the same size wheels and tires to function properly.

Have an 08 RK with ABS and as SG Dave said, make sure you practise using it. I also help out as an instructor in various high performance driving school courses and am always amazed at the total lack of knowledge even drivers of BMW's, Porches and Vipers have in regards to using their ABS function. There is a definite learning curve associated with proper usage. Get on a dry parking lot somewhere and with increasing speeds practise full panic stops. You will be much better prepared and it could even save your life!
