Just installed a SE clutch spring. Is it supposed to be that difficult to pull back ? The standard clutch was easy but i could tell i got slippage. I have a modified engine with 100/100 .
Yes, the SE spring is stiffer so therefore it will be harder on the clutch lever pull.
What I did was this.................I put the SE clutch spring in, and then I put in the EZ pull clutch ramps on the other side of the tranny. This gives me the best of both worlds..........stronger clutch with the stock lever pull.
I had the SE clutch as part of my 103 upgrade on my 07. (which had the easy pull ramps and teflon cable lining) and It was still MUCH harder of a pull at the lever. Probably twice as stiff in my opinion. Nothing you cant live with, but it IS quite a bit stiffer pull IMHO.
When I sold the 07 and went to the 09, one thing I really enjoyed is the easy pull on the stock clutch.

The SE spring is definately a much harder pull. As others here have said, it seems to be twice as hard. Not a real problem but "no question" about it, it is harder.
I don't get it cause I can't tell any difference after the change. There has to be something that makes some harder than others.
Year of the bike matters. I think it was in 06 that the easier pull ramps were put in, and in 07 or 08 when the teflon lined cable housing was added. Im sure proper lubrication (or lack thereoff) plays a part as well. My 03 bike had been neglected in that department when I got it. Once the cable was lubed properly, it was like night and day difference.
I guess how I would put it was that my 07 SE clutch wasn't BAD per se, but my 09 stock one is super easy. First time I rode the 09 and pulled the clutch, it was like "is this thing connected to anything"?

That could be the difference because I just can't feel it. I'm just not sure why bwickes thinks it would be hard to admit
