OK, so I have been looking at the Ultra now and want to understand how the communications work.
My wife and I like to go on long trips with our HOG chapter, and they always use their CB's to communicate. I would like to know if my wife and I can use the Push to talk to talk between us privately, but still hear incoming CB transmissions. Or will we be broadcasting to everyone if the CB is on to listen, and we use the PTT?
Assume you're talking about her on another bike. If this is the case, the CB radio transmission is not scrambled, so if someone else is on that channel and in range, they can hear your conversation.
If she is a passenger on your bike, using the intercom, you don't have to push to talk. the microphone is voice activated. the intercom doesn't broadcast over the CB, so you discussion with your passenger is kept private.

Sorry, both of us on the same bike. I'm not so sure voice activation is a good thing, I might start singing to a song, she's likely to jump ship on the freeway!
Yes, the intercom is voice activated while the CB is push to talk. She can talk on the CB from the rear to another bike if she wants with her push to talk button on the rear.
The voice activated intercom does not transmit out on the cb so it is private.
If you sneeze, cough or sing, lol, she will here it through the intercom.
it sometimes is better to leave the vox off wind noise and traffic noise will sometimes break it open and all u hear is static.didnt think id ever use the cb boy was i wrong all the time its nice to tell your ridin buddys when and were to stopwife said she didnt want to hear me on intercom at first but now she tolerates me.
