Does the shifter assembly have some kind of washers to keep it from ratlling. I filled it up with grease and that didn't help much, I also put the peg arms closer to the body of the primary cover to see if that would help, but it didn't. There has to be some kind of packing or something. Can anyone help. Thanks.
You can use a bellville (wavy) washer or a good thick O-Ring with the play taken out then tighten the shifter. The washer will last longer, the O-Ring last three to four months of daily riding though. Hope this helps.
Bought a 3/4 rubber hose from Home Depot and cut it the width of the spacer, slit it open and slipped it over the spacer, then put a hose clamp over it and tighterned to squash it open until it was just right. It even makes my shifting tighter. If too tight just loosen the clam a bit and make sure it's got some grease in there to slide. Worked for me. Doesn't look bad either.

Big Hog,
Check your shift levers with the bike off. Do one or both wiggle? I had this problem with my inner shift lever, the toe shifter. Turns out that either the metal itself or the splines on the inside of the shift lever were wearing down. I think the shaft may also be of concern. After a while, if this is your problem, you won't be able to tighten the shift lever any better, and the problem will get worse. Again, this is if you're having the same problem I had.
If this is your problem, it's a warranty replacement. In my case, I never liked the geometry of the heel shifter, so I bought a Kuryakyn shift spacer, put it on the shift rod, the rotated the heel shifter 180 degrees and use it as my toe shifter.
Haven't had a problem since. PM me if you need more info.
there are two bushing in the houseing they are only about 3 buckeroes a peice
you can drive them out with a socket that will just fit the opening it is 11/16
so you need a socket that is 11/16 outside dia. drive them both out from the outside.
p.s.
a neopream oil drain plug gasket from the auto store will take out the slack
just put it over the shaft then put your shifters back on
