I use Amsoil 70-110 in Tranny and Mobil 1 in the other 2 just for cost. I use Mobil 1 because you can get that at any Wally World so if your on the road and need oil you can pick it up unlike Amsoil, that is one of the reasons I just use it in the Tranny.
Yeah, this has been discussed ad nauseam, but so have many, many, other questions. Besides it snowed last night so.... The Amsoil will work fine. Everyone has their favorites for their own reasons, beliefs, and quirks. I personally use Amsoil in my engines. Any good oil that meets the specs will be fine though. In the primary I use Harley formula +. My clutch disengages to where I dont get any clunk or lurch forward when going from neutral to first, if I hold the clutch lever in for more than a second. It's cheap and I don't see anything else performing any better. I'll save my Amsoil for the motor. I believe in using gear oil in my trannys. Six speeds with helical gears require oil rated GL-5. I use Spectro Platinum Six Speed Gear Oil. It eliminated gear to gear shifting clunks that I had with Formula plus. A night and day difference. Baker Drivetrain recommends this stuff, so I'm sure it's good, but not necessarily better than other GL-5 rated lubes. The Spectro is more expensive than others but I don't care.
Try what you want to, experiment, and you'll also have your favorite based on what you've experienced.
I've put 27,000 miles on my EGC in approx. one year. I have used Amsoil since first change then every 3000 miles since then with NO PROBS. I do use their extreme gear 75W-90 in the tranny but 20W-50 everywhere else
What is the cost on Amsoil 20W50?, I have trouble finding Mobil 1 VTwin or plain Mobil 1 20W50 synthetic and the cost is now aout 11.00 per quart at Advanced Auto
