I know you're looking for advice but this horse has been ridden to death. You can get a consensus if you do a search on the subject and read the previous threads. Please, please, please do that search and let that subject rest in peace.
Did you follow your own advice when you were a newbie in Jan 08 and asked about the Baker DD-6? There were many posts about that transmission before you asked. Now 279 posts later you criticize others?
You saw the title of the thread, why did you open it?
IMO Amsoil is the best oil you can use, I had it tested after running it in my 07 RG for 8500 miles. the test results were posted on the forum about a year ago they showed no breakdown at all and very little wear or particulates, in fact the tester at Wheeler labs said the oil had at least another 2000 miles on it. I change it every 8500-9500 miles I use it in the motor and primary I use Amsoil severe gear 75/140 in the tranny. Just one guys opinion, do your research and use what feels good to you.

I use Amsoil 20w50 in all 3 holes. I started using in my VROD, which only has 1 hole, and was very impressed because after 5000 miles the oil still looked clean.I know this subject has been beaten to death, but I allways like to see new posts on old subjects, you never know what new info you may find.
Help me understand why Amsoil recommends the same oil in all three holes and so many people do not follow their recommendation and put their gear lube in the tranny and another product in the primary. Is it that Amsoil dont know their own product? Just asking.

With the synthetic oil I believe HD also recommends their Syn3 in all three holes. I still use amsoil synthetic 75w140w in my tranny, and 20w50w in motor and primary, the primary is basically just an oil bath for the clutch. I'm not a mechanic, just a garage wrench though...
I'll be using Amsoil after I reach 1,000 miles on my Street Glide. I see some using 75w90 and some using 75w140 gear lube. What pros/cons have you seen in the different weights?
