I think it will bother some but not others. Like most stock bikes mine still has some brushed/polished aluminum still showing, like the wheels and lower legs, and I don't think the cast backing plate detracts--especially since it isn't very noticeable hidden behind the AC cover. I thought about painting it krinkle black to match the engine, but don't think I ever will since I don't notice it and don't think anyone else does either. OTOH if your bike is glowing with shiny chrome or blacked out with no bare aluminum showing, I could see where you might want to enhance the appearance of that area by chroming, power-coating, or painting the backing plate.
Didn't notice this and I must've used my regular Torx bits, as I don't have any T+ tools. Actually, I didn't know T+ even existed 'til now, so what's the difference between them? They must've fit since I got it on without ado.
Locktite Blue works fine.
Scarey, that is what I was thinking! Sounds like I installed yours or you installed mine.
Guys if you plan on keeping the "football" you really can't see much of the backing plate. Only the breather bolts and legs like Beachbagger said, I guess it's individual preference just not that big of a deal IMHO but I may change my mind one day.
