I had a little bit of rubber on my exhaust that would not come off now matter how hard I scrubbed. Anyway, I sprayed some "Goo Gone" on it and it wiped right off. I was very impressed with how well the product worked, so I just wanted to recommend the product to anyone who is having problems cleaning a stubborn spot on their chrome.
I remove heel marks off pipes the same way I remove stickers from windows and have never scratched a pipe with this method.
I spray windex on the area for lubrication, and then take a brand new razor blade and gingerly go over the heel mark. Once the mark is removed I wipe the area clean.

You can scratch glass just as easy as you can scratch chrome. Use a fresh new flat razor and it works fine. I have done it dozens of times and never scratched a set of pipes.
The weight of the razor alone is almost enough to shave off the heel mark.
