Just wondering how often, if ever, everyone repacks their mufflers. I have V&H Basic slipons with right at 30,000 on them and have necer done it. Just curious.

 

Are yours getting a little loud like mine have? I wonder if it will effect performance if
I repack them. I will keep a eye on this thread..

 

I have the V&H Basics with 39k on them and no, never repacked. They can get a bit louder for my taste.

 

I had V&H basic slip ons on an 06 road king, got to noticing a intermittent rattling on the right side, seemed to be heat related. Checked everything I could think of. On a whim I took out the baffle on the right side, 2 of the three spot welds on the baffle had broken loose. Called V&H, they sent me a new one no problem, no cost and did not even have to send the old one back. Took the old one to a muffler shop and they spot welded it for me and I re-installed it. Worked like a charm. I still have the new one in the box if anybody ever needs one, just pay shipping but you can get it from V&H and they will pay shipping. While I had it out I noticed it would be very easy to re-wrap it and you can buy the wrap on e-bay.

 

I can't really tell if they got louder, it probably has, but over the last 3 years if it did it gradually I can't tell.
