i'm not vertically challenged, but after two mustangs the sundowner is the lowest and the most comfortable.

I tried the Arnott System with the adjustable Bleistein Shocks. I tried each adjustment 3 or 4 times. I never could adjust the damping to where it rode better. No matter how much air I pumped it up to It never rode as comfortable as the Progressive 412's I was running at the time. To be fair alot of guys on here love there Arnott air ride system. And to be fair again Arnott was true to their word to by refunding my money with out a hitch.

C&C will make the seat for you any way you want it basically. They will narrow it or push you up for a small fee. Call and speak to Chuck, tell him Bob Romanelli recommended him and C&C. His help has been invaluable to me. I had a Bad Lander seat that Allen and Mean City reworked for me. He did an outstanding job but I wanted something nicer and C&C fit that bill completely.
Keep in mind that any time you lower your bike you loose gorund clearence. You need to be aware of that as you go on in this process. Lowering blocks usually will make your ride a bit stiffer because they change the pitch angle of the shocks and from what I have read they will shorten the life of the shock too. How much shorter I can't answer but you might be able to research that . The seat IMO should be your first order of business. If you need more try the shocks. I am really happy where my bike sits and and handles right now. I'm a conservative rider so alot of the ground clearance issues in cornering don't seem to bother me. Take it one step at a time and get it right.

I'm going to start with the seat first. I really dont want to lower it. If my feet can get a little more footing then I will be happy. Just got to find the right option.

CH,

I am 5'6 and likely a 28.5 inseam. I wear Frye boots when I ride most of the time. When I first got my SG i put the ugly HD Reach seat on there which got me flat footed. (Dealer actually gave it to me for free as I said I wouldnt buy it unless I had it) I had this seat put on from day one which was great to help get the confidence I needed. I went from a V-Rod to the bagger so it was a major change both in weight and height. I rode for about 2000 miles observing what I liked, and didnt like. There wasnt much I didnt like about the bike, but I did want it slightly lower for those backing up situations and with the wife on the back. I have made the following modifications:

1- Lowered the front by 1" using progressive front springs
2- Just installed the Progressive 418 11.5" springs.

Number 2 was the best decision I made. Granted, it is lower so you are going to compromise some clearance but I liked the idea of springs vs. air bags just due to the handling. I am flat foot, knees bent, and very happy. I am now in talks with le pera for a better looing seat. I am so comfortable on this ride now, and couldnt be happier.

Check out my thread in the "Off Topic" area regarding 2009 motorcycle sales. I guess this would be a good year to upgrade.

Default Danny Gray seat

I just got my 2011 SG about 3 weeks ago. I am also looking for lowering solutions. I bought a Danny Gray solo speed cradle with flames stitched in it, beautiful seat but to be honest my butt is to big for the seat. I have 9 miles on it. I am back to the stock seat for now but I think i am going to try the Danny Gray butt crack solo. The Danny Gray speed cradle is for sale if anyone is interested. They say it will lower you 2 in. and push you slightly forward.
