I just added security to my bike, I can sleep better now...never had a problem, but crime is on the rise.....not a bad install at all, I added the smart security system, Siren, and pager.

Thanks guys, I will get the security.

It was the dealers who told me they drained the battery faster. I guess with their bikes sitting on the floor to long.

I've never had an issue with battery drain either. I wonder if those mentioned that were maybe having issues somewhere else and not the security?

It won't stop a thief for the most part, but it's nice to have, and does give a discount with some insurance companies. Anywhere I can save some money is good in my book!

I store a buddy's SG and he has the security enabled. I cannot notice a drain on the battery at all. I plug the bike into a tender about once a month to top off the battery and it is finished within about 15 minutes. And, that's on a small tender. The only drain I can see would be the small LED on the dash, and LED's draw nearly nothing. This being said, you can add excellent aftermarket security for around $100. I have a system on my Warrior, with the motion sensor. I find more people mess with it with the sensor than if I had just left the security off. IMO. Anyhow, I decided not to add it on my Road Glide and haven't missed it. I would recommend aftermarket if you decide to add it. Why pay the extra for the HD system when the aftermarkets are so simple to install yourself (plug n play)

Whoever told you it drains the battery down must have a bad unit or bad battery, It draws so few mil.amps it would take 6 months to kill a battery. Had mine sitting for 10 days while on a cruise and it had a full charge when I got back.

My 07 sits for weeks at a time in the winter and I have never had it not start or even have a weak start in over 2 years.

In my opinion the stock security system is prettly limited w/o a siren and pager system.

People who steal bikes are not getting on them and riding away. They're loading them onto trailers, trucks or vans. The stock security system does nothing to prevent this.

I don't like carrying the FOB around either, too big.

Spend the $400+ on stage 1 or a suspension upgrade.

Mine works just fine, I keep the fob in the windsheld bag, along with the rest of the keys and take them out when I need the added securty. As to the battery deal as long as you ride the bike every now and then you will never have a problem.

If someone wants the bike. a few guys will just pick it up and throw it in a truck. Alarm isn't gonna help. An alarm is purely to comfort you on something you no ability to avoid if its in your future. Never had one, don't have one now, wouldn't let it break any deal for me. I've never heard of any alarm stopping any real thief from stealing anything. Each his own...
