Did a search on this but came up empty handed. I had a question about my new to me 05 Road Glide. On top of the engine/transmission joint i have some very slight dark colored seepage right in the center of the joint. it does not look like oil, and from looking in the service manual it does not appear that this joint has any lubricant behind it. is this correct? it doesnt look like there is a gasket if there is oil behind it.
It is not a leak...it's the two cases rubbing together causing this.I think that they all do this,it just isn't noticed on the black motors.I've cleaned it off mine a few times using simple green.I'm sure there are other products out there that will remove it.
Is this what it looked like? If so, this is from my '04 Roadie. I had the dealer repair it under warranty last year ( I got the extended when I bought the bike used from them). According to the repair invoice it was $700+ repair. I think most of it was labor on the disassemble/reassemble. Make sure you check the bottom seam of the cases as well. The bottom of mine was worse. It is a seal and has been clean since having it done.

Good luck

it looks similar to that, allthough nowhere near that severe. i am inclined to think it is just the aluminum rub like mentioned above, as near as i can tell there is no oil inside that cavity. not sure what the dealer replaced on yours. i would think if there was actual lube in there it would have a gasket.
