I am trying to find out about the workings between the motor and transmission. 07 streetglide 96 with 6 speed, I know that it is metal to metal between the two, but the oil feed and return lines go thru this section and I don't know if there is a gasket or is there some o-rings in there, because I have a friend that has a leak and we looked at several manuals and can not see how these two holes mate to the engine from the trans. I did a search but could not find anything that would help. I would like to see a pdf or a "blow-up" of that area so I could see how it works before I help him in taking it apart.
You might want to invest the $60 for a service manual...and, if they weren't separate units you couldn't very well run different lubricants and have them on different recommended changing schedules as well as separate drain and filler plugs.....jus sayin...
'08 Service Manual states:
2. Thoroughly wipe all engine oil from pockets in crankcase
flange.
3. Install new engine-to-transmission gasket engaging two
index pins in holes of transmission flange.
4. Verify that transmission dowels are seated. Place transmission
case into position behind crankcase. Mate engine
and transmission flanges.
5. Install and tighten fasteners.

Obviously you don't know what you are talking about. I know they are seperate units but there is oil passing thru in oil feed holes, not mixed just passing thru. I do have a service manual, but it is not clear. The drain for the transmission goes thru the oil pan as well, not into it but thru it. Hence different oil locations.

Thank you, i did read something like that in the manual, but the blow-up doesn't show a gasket. But that does confirm what I thought.
