by the way, Jamie sent the PCV based on the pipes and AC I told him I have so I am assuming the setting in the map are correct.
Sometimes a canned map needs tweaking to suit the needs of an individual bike. I asked Jamie to adjust the map he sent me and am very happy with the results. You might want to ring him up.
Same problem here. Died on me with a puff of black smoke trying to take off from a stop light while in EITMS. I've disabled it for now, and will try reviewing the map re: iclick's suggestions later. FWIW, I'm not running auto tune (yet).
I was at the americade and i experienced the above issue. bike got real hot due to traffic and warm weather. even though i tried to "blip" it would stall most of time.. if roll throttle slowly get both cylinbers to kick in, then was would be ok, but in traffice, the EITMS would kick in real quick.. i also stalled and got a black puff of smoke out of my SE HD AC... it scared me. thought engine exploded.. i let bike cool down a little and then back on road.
this was my first experience of bike running real hot.. If you disable the EITMS, can it over heat and damage engine ? is there a over temp safety on the Vtwin ? I have PCV and no autotune. wondering if m bike was stock , if would have same experience. one more point. it does take alot longer for EITMS to kick in with the PCV. I wish i had a temp sensor to really measure the temp.. it was really hot.. maybe this info would of helped. would adjusting the PCV map help at all or just minimize the stalling depending on engine temp ? IS there any damage to throttle body if get the PUFF of black smoke often ?
When my EITMS activates (and yes, with the PCV it does so less frequently than stock) I am able to "blip" the throttle ok with no stall. That said, it does seem to not work as seemless as it did stock. Meaning that while I don't stall, the motor does seem like it wants to stall just for a second (though it's never stalled).
We will look into this tomorrow and will contact Dynojet as well. Note that our 09 bike has not shown any issues with the EITMS operation but we will look further into this and I assure you that you have my attention in this matter. We have not had any issues, but if there are we are certainly here to help. However, please note that right now this thread is only 2 hours old and we cannot always supply an immediate answer to every situation. To the guy talking about attorneys and lawsuits I will let you know nothing will make me leave this forum faster than threatening us with these terms. I will post when I have more info. Have a great evening.
Honestly, give Jamie a break. If Jamie and DJ were to completely blow everybody off with no attempt at resolving the problem, then start ringing some bells. The reputation Jamie has here on this forum and that guy wants to jump up his backside? Sheesh! I get customers like that come in guns-a-blazin thinking I'm going to "snap to" because they brought that big mouth in with them. If that's your first response to an issue, I'd tell you to **** off and put my energy towards those that gave me an opportunity to remedy the situation. But Jamie seems to be a better person than me and will likely fix you up regardless.
I'm subscribed to this one if for no other reason I'm looking at likely the power package. I only need to save some more pennies and learn if I can disassemble those DT Jackpots to have the black ceramic coated. And I'm sure this will be solved by the time my cash is ready.
Lastly, how about riders out there with other non-Harley tuners on their bikes, are any of you having similar concerns? Just a thought.
Thanks for checking into this so quickly Jamie, and thanks for the sponsorship.
i have the same problem as th op. i just installed pc-v from fuel moto mapped for my monster ovals and se/ac. the eitms worked flawlessly before the instal and now the bike dies when giving throttle while coming off eitms. and yes i have tried blipping the throttle before releasing the clutch.
the good thing is it takes much longer for the eitms to kick in with the mods so the bike is running cooler. unfortunatelly i have had to turn if off until a solution is found as i like to be able to accelarate away from a stop without having to restart the bike
davewear - any update... im having same issue.. i have sent a email to FM.. hope they can help... i disabled the EITMS for now... man it gets hot !!... might look into oil cooler now..

reply from fuel moto:
Hello, we have not seen any issues with EITMS (including on my personal 09 that I ride everyday) The only issue was where users were were trying to use the Auto Tune to adjust the idle which is incorrect. I have attached a firmware update and I would also make sure that the closed throttle position is reading 0% when up to operating temp. Note the throttle can be very sensitive when in heat management and before moving rev the motor slightly to get the RPM's above 1250 which will turn off the EITMS operation. Give this firmware a try and if you need any help just let me know.
I'm having my bike dyno tuned next week and will see if they can do anything to resolve the problem.
Have they looked in this thread and others? There are clearly a number of people who have this problem despite Jamie and iclick saying that theirs work fine.
I have reset the TP a couple times, even made the minimum artificially high to insure that the PCV doesn't kick in until a little "late". Made sure that fuel tables for both cylinders are 0 for TP < 5% and RPM < 1500.
Same problem anyway. 90% of the time, start to roll on or "blip" the throttle in EITMS cause the engine to die.
It seems to me that the EITMS is more about rider comfort than engine protection anyway, so my "solution" has been to disable it. Running richer with PCV, added oil cooler, and running synthetic, so I feel OK about any heat "problems" at this point.
It would be nice if Dynojet would take this seriously and work with someone exhibiting the problem so that we can get a real fix.
It is fine with people with later 08's or 09's but us that have early 08's would have to take the bike to the dealer to get it turned off or on. I have had mine turned on but can not say that I have ever actually felt it come on but if I get the PCV and have to disable it I would have to go to the dealer and they will charge me, not sure how much but when I got it turned on they said it was free one time only?

Keep in mind I have an '07 (non-TBW) and I've only had it activate once in my garage, never yet on the road.

Note, EITMS has several phases other than the skip fire mode as the ECM uses different strategies before and after skip fire mode. Some have noted stalling when in skip fire mode, but from has been reported and what we have tested here (including on our 09 bike) we have been able to make the bike stall on a completely stock bike, as well as with the PC-V installed so we cannot blame the Power Commander on this.
