i am still fighting the vibration with my glasses when using my shield. i bought a taller shield and it does help but i still get a vibration. (i feel some of it is the lack of wind in my face.) so i took my old shield and cut it down to see if i could get above the turbulence. it does help in one way but does not really solve my problem. after trying a couple of lower heights i took a ride without the shield at all. it really is a lot smoother feeling but i know my neck can not take the pressure on a longer ride.
so i got to thinking, the wind helps with the vibration but i just don't need 65 mph of it. if i could keep the wind pressure at 35mph, that would be great.
so i am taking my old shield and cutting some slots into it to see if i can let air thru but control it at a lower mph. i hope it also breaks the vacuum created at the back of the shield and that will cut down on the turbulence factor.
i know a lot of guys on here spend a lot more time with their bike than i do. i thought maybe someone else had tried this before and wondered if they had any success?

The top of my windshield lines up with the tip of my nose, which is supposed to be the ideal height to avoid buffeting. And I don't have any buffeting problems. You might want to adjust your windshield to your nose level and see if that helps.
That wind your getting is probably coming up from under the shield and up your legs. A set of windshield lowers mounted to your forks would knock out a lot of it. I use a standard height shield and look thru it. My glasses do not dance around even with the wind I get from underneath. I don't mind it though because you need a breeze in the florida heat. Maybe you should try some other type of glasses or goggles. I don't think I would cut slits in the shield. May get a lot of whistling.
I would look into the fork mounted deflectors and/or the fork baffle...
I don't remember significant problems you speak of, but w/ the windshield on, my 03 RKC rides better to me w/ the fork baffle and chrome deflectors, than the other 03 RKC that did not have these items...
