Default Streetglide fender ?

Im putting a streetglide fender/facia/light on my 09 ultra. The fender tip light is wired up the side of the fender, where does it go from there?

More than likely, it has a two wire connector that is plugged into the circuit board behind your tail light lens. An easy way to check is to remove the tail light lens and unplug the connector in the upper left hand chamber.

this lamp has a long lead and a 2 prong connector on it, the lead is as long as the fender. There are tabs going on the inside of the facia where the wire is held in place. Not sure if the 09 is different than previous years?? Seems odd to have a wire running on the outside of the fender too?

IIRC, mine plugged into the harness where your tourpack lights plug in on the Ultra... so you may need to do some cutting/splicing to make it work. I rerouted the wires a little so they were under the fender stay and not out in plain sight.

Timvan, I was confused by your OP since it referred to "fender tip light" which I understood to mean the fender tip light on the EG, not the LED in the SG facia.

The LED in the facia plugs into the tour pak harness when installed on a Street Glide which accounts for its length.

You can wire the LED to the chamber where your fender tip light used to be plugged into the circuit board behind the tail light lens. You would shorten the LED wires; cut-off the fender tip light connector with a couple of inches of wire attached to it; and, splice the LED wires to those wires. Otherwise, if you want to avoid cutting off and reusing the fender tip light connector, you would need to order a new connector and pins/sockets.

Good luck with your project.

Tim, the TP harness that a Street Glide uses for the LED is already being used on your Ultra for the TP lights.

My suggestion to use the upper left chamber in the circuit board behind the tail light lens is how the HD fender extension/tri-bar light accessory for pre-09 bikes is wired.

If you use the Street Glide turn signal/license plate relo kit, the upper left chamber in the circuit board is used for the license plate LED's in the turn signal bar. On my bike, since I have the SG turn signal set-up, I spliced the SG facia LED wires to the license plate LED wires so that both use the upper left chamber, and the TP harness is used for the TP lights when the TP is on the bike.

Another alternative is to make a Y-pigtail for the TP harness to power both the TP lights and SG facia LED using the TP harness.

Here are the part nos. for the connectors to make a pigtail:

Pigtail to plug into the TP harness to create two connections: one for the TP lights' connector, and one for the SG LED:

1. 73103-96BK (used to plug into the bike's TP harness. The wire terminals are 73190-96; three required, but they're cheap so buy a couple extra in case you screw-up the crimp--return the unused ones if you like).

2. 73153-96BK (used to create two connectors for TP and SG LED, so buy two. The wire terminals are 73191-96BK; three required for the TP lights; two for the SG LED; but, go ahead and wire both with three wires, so a total of six required, but buy a couple of extra.

If you want to use the upper left chamber of the tail light circuit board, but don't want to cut-off the connector from your fender tip light, you will use HD connector PN 73153-96BK and wire terminal sockets PN 73191-96 (need two).

Good luck with your project.
