I have a 2008 Ultra Glide and have been working on installing grip warmers and along the way I broke the cable going to the throttle grip sensor.
There are some obious electrical wires that I could fix if those broke, but this is a thick black cable that attaches to the middle of the TGS. It doesn't look electrical and doesn't look like something that can be fixed.
If anyone has experience with the TGS and has any idea what this cable is for and if it can be repaired I'd appreciate a shout. Also, any ideas how much a new TGS costs?
Woodworker. I am not sure which wire you refer to but the heavy wire is for heated grips and has no function for throttle control.
There is a rubber cap on the end of the tbw cartridge. Peel this cap off - you will be able to put it back on easily. You will see two small female connectors in the end of the cartridge after you remove the cap. These connectors connect to the heavy black wire to which you refer.
Strip the insulation from the heavy wires then do a ohmeter check for continuity to the small female connectors on the end of the cartridge. If complete you are ok.
If you are not going to install HD heated grips, the damage you describe is of no consequence.
