I had a guy tell me he would definitely take the items I had for sale so I edited my post with a "sold" addition. Then a day or so later he decided he didn't want the parts. That taught me not to consider an item sold until the money shows up. I did sell the parts so it wasn't that big a deal but if I tell somebody something I make sure that I keep my word!

I've sold several items on the classifieds, and the first one to agree to the selling price gets the deal. I have nothing wrong with people wanting to offer less, that is certainly their right. But I also have the right to sell to the highest bidder or refuse lowball offers.

I posted several items for sale in the classified section, several people have contacted me about more information and some requesting more pictures, OK I understand that, and most want to be sure of what they are buying...me too for that matter.
So I have one person that's seriously interested ( their words) and wants a few more pictures..OK I'm good with that but it's Easter Weekend, people get busy. I then have a person over the weekend that states They will buy them....no money has been promised from the picture requesting person....so I sold them to the person offering to buy them now.

Was I wrong here? Should I have waited for the other person to see more pictures and decide? or is it first with the cash?

I've missed out of quite a few things that have been for sale, by either not responding fast enough, or thinking about the item...never gave it much thought, just missed out.

I just want to do the right thing, I feel like I did, but the other person is upset, I think they feel like I did wrong by them....

You opinion????
You did the right thing by selling to the first who pulled the trigger. I can't tell you how many times someone asked for 1st dibs on stuff and never got back to me. There are tire kickers here, like everywhere else.

I've bought/sold/traded dozens of parts over the years with other members here and only got burned once and I learned. There are currently Dyna and Touring parts listed and I am holding one Touring part for someone who wrote to me and explained the reason for not taking it right away, which I understood. He was involved with one of the recent police officer shootings and I'll hold that part until he's ready to pay for it.

As far as having tire kickers, anyone who's ever sold anything has experienced them, calls that they'll be there "in 20 minutes" you wait and no one shows up. It's no different here. For the most part, unless there is a legit reason, the first one with the money gets the part. It may sound unfair or harsh, but we've all lost sales based on promises of interest in whatever you are selling. Otherwise we'd all lists the parts in the Freebies and Trade Section.
