Hey Guys....Installed my Power Commander last week....VERY happy with the results except for 1 thing.....Washed the bike yesterday and then out for a cruise....the bike ran like CRAP!...HIGH IDLE.....POPPING ON DECEL.....Got her home and did some checking and I found water in one of the Power Commander elec. connectors.....after drying it out, everything was back to normal....just never recall hearing of this problem in the past??? Before you guys jump on me...I used the low pressure garden hose....and blow dried the bike with the leaf blower.....and NO...I didn't have the side cover off when washing.....all my elec. connections are coated with die electric goop.....Anybody else have this problem??????
I haven't had it to me but the PCV is under the seat on the '09. Since my seat is leather I pull it when I wash the bike and cover all the electronics with plastic. On the last big ride I went on one of my buddyies had the same thing happened to his duece. It wasn't a PC but same exact symptoms and water was the cause.
you need to put the dielectric grease around the cap plugs at the seal when they come to gether not on the fricken pins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and then you should wrap some high quality electrical tape (scotch 33)around the out side of the plugs where they butt up.if you had problems just washing the bike, wait til you get caught in a heavy rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and your 550 miles from home.
comaman2....I realize I may have a problem down the road when it rains...thats why I wrote this thread...to get opinions on how to avoid potential problems....thanks for your imput.
You CAN put the di-electric grease on the pins, as it will ensure proper connection, but as far as waterproofing goes, around the "seal" doesn't hurt either.

+1 on thAT.. Its not a conductive grease its a non conductive water repellent style grease.. I use it on all my Ham radio connections and ive pulled every plug on my bike and coated the pins and the sockets and reassembled them.. If the pins and sockets are coated well enuff water can run in and out of the connector all day and not hurt a thing.. Remember there is such a thing as overdoing it only because it gets messy
