I'm really not happy, nor have I ever been with this h4 bulb. I know nothing about what is better, and/or what will fit in my 99' Ultra and what is the best bang for the buck?
Anyone that can help would be really appreciated.
Can you explain more about why you don't like it?
Is it a 55 watt low 60 watt high standard H4?
I recently sent an email to danielsternlighting.com and he made a few suggestions to me.
A pretty good post on this is here https://www.hdforums.com/m_3263504/tm.htm
I'm seriously considering this mod also.
If you're running a stock type Reflector Optic headlight , you know the beam is a messy "blob"
of a pattern , the mod Stern recommended would fix that quite well.
Aim is also critical and most don't bother to check it properly on any bikes I've seen.
Just a thought.
Mick
They have good prices and ship free to North America.
European bulbs are built to a different spec than NA bulbs.
The Osram Silverstar H4 is the bulb I use and it is very noticeably an improvement over NA H4's. It uses Xenon instead of halogen, same wattage and no heat issues.

I'm mostly concerned with the look of the lights . Yellow headlight beam, it doesn't show up well for safetly from other vehicles and the glass portion is dated looking.
My lens broke and, in a bind, I put in a twenty dollar sealed beam sylvania halogen headlight I bought at an auto parts store. Works good enough I haven't considered spending a hundred dollars plus to replace it.
With the fog lights I have cars flash me at night because they think I have the brights on.

It's probably not the bulb that's making you unhappy. The non-fluted HD headlamp is stylish but not very effective in dissipating the light, and IMO no DOT-certified headlamp works well. I purchased a European-code (E-code) headlamp here. They cost about $35 and IMO provide a much better pattern than standard DOT lamps. They aren't theoretically legal in the U.S. but they look normal and I can't imagine anyone ever challenging their certification. OTOH if styling is important these won't win any points for beauty and look quite mundane.
I also am running 80/100w H4 bulbs (stock is 55/60w), purchased here, and that also helps. Although these do run hotter than standard bulbs I've never had a problem running these for eight years on my old RK or 2˝ years on my present SG, and in my experience the stock wiring is up to the task of handling the extra current. It is the same wire gauge as the low-beams which when equipped with passing lamps carry 105w or more.
iclick,
I sent you a pm.
Also, since I'm yakin' at Ya. Because of your bike picture, I have purchased a Mustang solo seat last year ($250 with studs and bib) and I just scored a detachable solo tourpac rack. So I just need a tourpac. I'd like a chopped , but I'll probably start with the stock one to see how it fits me.
