Default ? about the smart siren II system

I am thinking of getting the smart siren II system with the Security System Pager Receiver II. I have the factory installed security system already on my 08 Ultra Classic. Does this system hook into the already installed system or is a different system needed. Also how loud is the siren? Will the transmitter notify me when somebody is messing with the scoot, (removing the air filter, horn, seat ect) or only when it is lifted off the jiffy stand. Had an air filter cover stolen once really pissed me off. Would appreciate any help.

Thanks John

If you just need the siren it's easy to install. It's loud enough. I haven't bought the pager yet.

depends on how much they wiggle the bike when removing the part. it would be very easy to steal your air filter/cover, seat without setting off the alarm.

that said, it still is not a bad idea to have it.

I had the siren put on my 09 and got the pager also. The siren makes your ears bleed. It's loud and uncomfortably high pitched. I would be that they would still be able to steal your air cleaner though. I get in my bags all the time without my fob on me and never once has it been set off. Only if they turn the ignition on or rock the bike. Also, they get a warning beep before the alarm actually goes off. I tested the pager also, had a friend get on the bike while i was in the building. It works well. I park my bike a couple of blocks from where I work in an office. I'd go for the siren and pager but it won't stop folks from getting in your bags or taking your air cleaner.

I agree. Based on how mine works, you could easily steal the AC cover or a detachable backrest for that matter if you did it carefully. I also would recommend. It would be nice if there was some sensitivity adjustment. And yes it is very loud, especially in the garage!

I like mine, only complaint is it's a chore to set the pager.

The siren is activated when something happens - the transmitter and pager tell you that your siren is on if you happen to be in a place where you can't hear the siren. The new pagers are supposed to have 1/4 mile range - have not tested that but I suspect that may be a lot shorter if there are a lot of buildings or other obstructions around.

Not all that sensitive. You can rock the bike a little and not set off the alarm. Unfortunately the new models don't have a sensitivity adjustment.

Worth having? Sure is. Won't stop those determined to steal the bike or parts but will discourage the general riff raff.

With working on the bike sometimes I leave the key fob in the house and go to move the bike and it gives me a warning churp. But I would be lazy and not go get the key fob. I could still take off the bags, seat, air cleaner....ect. The thing will not go off unless the bike is tilted up, rolled or ignition turned to the right. (does not set off the alarm if turned to the left ACC) I bet 50 bucks I could take off the whole exhaust system and the thing would not go off.

It is a nice system overall. Would be nice if someone wanted they could add a perimeter motion detector that goes off if you are even too close to the bike. Had one of those on my car and it worked pretty good.
