Nice thread revival new guy...still not a record. Its normal for any lockup clutch to hard or near impossible to engage at high rpm. Just think about whats going on in there...the faster the clutch spins the more centrifugal force pushes on the pressure plate so your clutch wont slip...now think about how much more leverage you'd need to overcome that...id imagine your clutch lever would need to be about 2 feet long and mounted in much sturdier perch. Either go with a quick shifter setup or you need to find out just how much you have to let off the throttle to give you just enough leverage to shift. I put one of those aim vpc lockups on over this past winter and while i dont speed shift very often ive found theres no issues shifting at high rpm. i have a hydraulic clutch which might be helping or hiding the issue.
Ya just want to give this forum an update on the clutch locking. I spoke with Barnett yesterday. They informed me the impossible lever pull is normal. They informed me that if I remove three weights on the lock that can easily be removed
would be the way to go. Remove every other weight to keep the balance. He even informed me that some even remove all the weights and it still runs fine. They said that even the weight from the weight hinges are enough to push hard on the plates. I'm doing this sometime this week. I'll give an update later.

I had the same problem on my 08 road king w/S&S 106 MOTOR. Barnett advised me to take 3 weights off every other weight so the unit stays balanced. Worked like a charm. And yes it's extremely hard to pull the clutch lever at high RPM's. This is how it's supposed to feel. Just time your shifts and let off the throttle for a micro second then pull the lever.. it takes pratice.
Yes I have a 08 RKC. S&S motor with barnett scorpion lock clutch. The clutch seems to be working ok no slippage. However when my RPM's are high there is no way to pull the clutch lever in at all. It seems to be locking and won't allow me to pull the clutch lever in order to shift. Is this normal ?. I am unable to race because I can't shift up to any gear. Is there a fix for this or is this normal operation for scorpion lock clutch. A shop installed it.
PS The clutch lever works fine otherwise. It only happens at about 5000 rpm. No problem with being able to pull lever at riding RPM"s
since from one week il try to fix the problem on my honley 2007 flhtc yesterday i call barnett service and the fix was to remove the 2 rings the strait one and concave everyting is ok no drag no slliping at 4 and 5- 6 gears
sorry for my english spelling i am lurning i am french from North of Montreal PQ Canada .
