So, the wife and I rented an Ultra for the weekend and put 780 miles on it riding. It was her first time on a bike that big and she loved the ride. Good for me . So we start talking about buying one and the conversation leads to whether or not we should wait a year. Reason is we have one kid in college now and one starting this fall. As most of you may know it's not cheap so my cash at hand is committed and I will have to finance some of it. So doing my analytical tradeoff to prove to myself I should buy now what I'm wondering is what is the typical increase in price each year? The MSRP on the 09 Ultra is $21959 in 2 tone paint, can anyone tell me what the MSRP was of an 08 or 07?
Just my 2 cents...Actually, I would wait at this point. The 2010 model year will be rolling off the line in July. That way you can take a look at what improvements were made, and possibly get a better deal on an 09 if the 2010 models haven't changed much. There should still be plenty of 09's around and maybe less than MSRP. Good luck!
Wait till the end of the model year and see if there are any good discounts on the 09's. That is what I'm doing and hope to add an Ultra to the family.
If there are not any deals (closeout discounts) and the 2010's look good I plan to wait another year for a deal.
..agree with Road Ranger for all the same reasons...UNLESS!, you have no bike right now, and want to ride this summer...If that's the case, then buy right now so you get a full summer out of it...otherwise you'll be starting your season in early Aug..
If you want to ride this summer buy now. I don't expect to see a lot of changes in 2010 for the touring line. The 3 dealers in my area are all out of Ultras and Street Glides for 2009 and the early deliveries of 2010's are already spoke for.

An 07 2 tone Ultra MSRP was $21,135. Security System was $335, shipping was $325.

+1! With all the big changes in the 09s, there's likely not to be big changes to the 10s. I also didn't notice any huge discounts in the 08s with the 09s hit the shelf. Others may have but I did not.
