Default Stage one question....

Hi all....Quick question....I know ther have been many discussions regarding using or not using the Power Commander unit with your stage one upgrade. Everyone swears that you should. I was talking to a buddy of mine who says that the best alternative is to use an S&S injector setup rather than the Power Commander. I didn't see any discussions regarding this topic, maybe you guys have already talked of this in another post, but I did not see it. If so, forgive me if I've started to beat a dead horse.

Whether you use the PCIII or the SERT, you will need to have the option of fine tuning your ECM during a dyno run. I'm not sure about the S&S injector setup, or how it works. But, the adjustments you'll need will be done at the ECM level, not the injectors level. Both PCIII and SERT allow you to adjust more than just fuel mixture, but also timing. Your ECM has to be calibrated for peak performance at all throttle settings. This means that both your timing and fuel mixture adjustments have to be done simultaneously during a dyno tune run for peak performance.

If you could, maybe educate us on the S&S injectors and their purpose.

I appreciate your input and it makes more sese to me now. I am going to go with my original plan on getting the PCIII install with a dyno. Evidently the S&S injector system does not fully enhance the efficiency like the PCIII. If I find out more info on the injector front, I will let you all know. Thanks again.

Default RE: Stage one question....

The S&S VFI system is another "Package" that has to be built to a bikes specs....

A new induction module and a new ECM, that is reprogrammable with software similiar to that of the SERT....

Again, all a PC does is MODIFY the real sensor and actuator data to and from the ECM....

A SERT of VFI is a complete ground up build of a map, and it is fine tuned at various levels of Throttle and Load.....

SERT and VFI give you 9 parameters to adjust and modify....

PC gives you 4 (Advanced Mode)....

PC cost is a tad more than 1/2 of a SERT....
