I'm curious, how does the 8 or 9 inch flat top compare with other windshields. Does the wind still hit your head at about the same place?

I was giving the CustomFLHTwindshield folks a thumbs up, my buddy I ride with likes to look through the shield while I like to look over. It's whatever floats your boat.

As far your question Beary, that's hard to answer in my opinion - I can tell you about my experience.

I have a 6" shield and there was much more than just wind, there was turbulence/buffeting. I took that off and put on my stock shield (12"), big improvement. I bought the 9" Flat Top from CustomFLHTwindshields (Clark's Custom Windshields) and it smoked the 12" std in performance. I don't know why it does, could be the same theory the Klockwerks or SSC from Cee Bailey's trying to throw the wind out the sides more as the Flat Top (and half moon) shields are much wider than stock. Whatever it does, it works! I experienced wind but it was pleasantly welcomed as it was over 100 degrees on my last ride. I'm not sure if it hits ya in the same spot or not on the head as it was different.

It's my understanding that these Karman Vortex things (forgive me if the spelling is off there) coil the wind creating the turbulence, with the stock shield (12")- 70 MPH or over, I was getting bad turbulence...like head rattling stuff and wearing glasses, it was bouncing them all over the place. Even though I had a 3" shorter shield when I put the 9" Flat Top on, the Vortex factor was gone until about 85 mph instead of 70 mph and even then it was mild. I'm sure that 14" one that Joe got is serious wind deflection. Hope that helps
