I just now bought one for my 09 RKC. I hope it's as easy to install asw you say. I opted to do it myself.

So.... I started the install about 45 minutes after the above post and I finished about 30 minutes ago. Took me a bit longer than it should have as when it comes to tools, I am a Primative Pete. Took me longer to locate the right tools than it did to install.

The backrest was a bit annoying to hook in, but not too nad.

My adjustable backrest took a bit longer... Instructions were terrible and the "crush nut" didn't work as advertised. Now that I have had it on for a month I can honestly say it is the best mod i've ever done.

I got the same backrest when I bought my 06 SG, but did not come with instruction, does anyone have a installation instruction or know where I can get a copy ? Thanks.

Default Back Rest Replacement - FYI

FYI

To save some money ($220 +) if you are trading up to a newer bike you can use your current drivers backrest on the new 09 and 10 model years. (new frames)

I just traded in my 06 Electra Glide Classic on a 2009 Electra Glide Classic and kept the back rest. Got the new bike home, removed the seat and it bolted right on.

The new bike even came with the two studs and nuts already in the rear fender for mounting.
Now I don't know how far back the model years would go and still fit, but it's worth a try.
Pretty sure the dealer will tell you it's different.

The wife complains it is invading her space! But it sure is nice to ride with!

Had one on my 99 EGC but the bracket went with it when I traded for the new 09 Ultra while on a trip but had the back rest at home. I, like some of the others, don't use it when OL rides with me. This is the first year you can buy the bracket and back rest seperate. So, I bought the bracket and installed it on the new bike (my first DIY install after reading posts on a similar thread.) I found the one mounting hole was too close and the next one was a little to far back. Tried the one too close and found, like others here, pushed me too far forward and was uncomfortable. Then, since I am in the medical field, I got an old blood pressure cuff and, after pulling all the upolstry and padding off the back rest, inserted it between the hard back pan and the padding. I then moved the bracket back to the hole that is a little too far back and use the hand pump to inflate the BP cuff bag to push the padding forward until comfortable and this can be adjusted like the lumbar support built into car seats. I love the new set up on long solo rides since we usually ride to all the events no matter how far.

Yes the mustang backrest will work with the stock seat.

I really like the old b/p cuff idea, and yes the rider back rest was the very first mod to my bike, acquired the fondness for the backrest many moons ago on my old yamaha v-star, would ride without one now, no complaint from wife unless trying to get on the bike with a couple of layers and chaps on for the colder rides.
