Their fix was to throw parts at it and hope it worked! The last one was a 2002 VW Passat W8....32 work orders........61 days out of service.........14 times in the shop......in a period of 12 months. VWoA bought the car back just after I filed my second complaint with the BBB. They (the BBB) was extremely effective and very helpful.

The bike has been in the shop 9 of the 23 days we've owned it with electrical problems. It died on the way to the dealer and had to be towed. The dealer told us to drive it in. Guess we shouldn't have listened to them, but now we have a $229 tow bill and the dealer has our bike again. This is our first Harley experience an it isn't a good one. I guess we should have stuck with the
Gold Wing, it's a 1978 and has never given us a problem.

Is anyone else having electrical problems with a 2009 Ultra?
I'll give you ten grand for it!

I'd be embarrased to offer someone $10,000 for a new 2009 FLHTCU. I'll raise that offer to $10,500 and throw in a new Harley T-Shirt.

I broke down 2 days ago and immediately called the dealer to have it picked up (2008 under warranty) and I was quoted "Sorry, but warranty issues DON'T INCLUDE a tow or pick up". I limped it home (1.75 hours to go 4 miles). I called again, and was told "You should have bought towing coverage with your insurance.... We can pick up & drop it off for a $250.00 charge". So now I'm pissed. I empty out my enclosed trailer, 2 hours in 90 degree heat, load the bike alone, make the 40 mile trip to the dealer. It was a fuel filter housing break (recall issue). Fixed and back home in 5 hours (this was yesterday). Had to drive back this morning because I left something there. The entire day I sat there yesterday, waiting, and today I noticed the truck and trailer they use for this has not moved one inch. They just lost a customer.

The dealer we were dealing with lost a customer also. They had a truck and trailer sitting in their lot also and they couldn't be bothered to drive 4 miles to pick our bike up when they told us to drive it in. The dealer did however fix the problems with the bike and it is running great!!!!!! We did upgrade our HOG membership to include unlimited towing. It costs 29.95 a year and we think it is well worth the investment. Sorry you had to deal with the hassle. I would call HOG and upgrade if I were you.

You can't let the service mgr. or anyone else in service brush you off.You have got to stand your ground, let them know you expect it to be fixed. If they can they will try and convince you thats normal. In your owners manual theres a no. to call Harley davidson customer service.Call, let them know whats going on.Most of the H.D. service dept. are good so are the techs.Good luck.

We called HD customer service and things changed rather quickly. Since the bike has been fixed we have received many follow up phone calls from both dealers. Unfortunately, it took a phone call to customer service to get some satisfaction. We really are enjoying our new bike and hope the service will be better in the future.

It's good to know things seem to be on the mend. Like any new vehicle, we expect them to be flawless. They aren't and sometimes it takes patience to get things taken care of. My wife's Town and Country mini van was in the shop almost as much as it was out when she first bought it. But we stuck with it and things got fixed. Being diplomatic helps, but so does being firm when the issues call for it.

I commend you for not backing down. And for not letting some of the more "outspoken" folks here get to you.

Now, fasten your (figurative) seat belts, relax and enjoy the ride. Hats of to a job well done.
