problems with new ultra
The bike has been in the shop 9 of the 23 days we've owned it with electrical problems. It died on the way to the dealer and had to be towed. The dealer told us to drive it in. Guess we shouldn't have listened to them, but now we have a $229 tow bill and the dealer has our bike again. This is our first Harley experience an it isn't a good one. I guess we should have stuck with the
Gold Wing, it's a 1978 and has never given us a problem.
Is anyone else having electrical problems with a 2009 Ultra?
Every new H-D comes with a 1 year HOG membership, which comes with free basic Roadside Assistance up to $100 of the bill. Being a recent aquisition you probably haven't even got the Membership card and booklet in the mail yet but the dealer should have briefed you on this at delivery. The Roadside Assistance number is in my cellphone as is H-D's Customer Service number. CS has interceded with a dealer when I was on the road twice.... once they Goodwilled a recently-out-of-warranty repair on chronic stator problems on the 2000 dressers. When it happened again 3 months later 1000 miles from home they picked up the whole tab and my motel bill as well. I'm not saying that H-D CS is always that responsive or even does the right thing all the time.... but it's just might be a valuable number to keep handy.
H-D Customer Service 414-343-4056
HOG Roadside Assistance 888-839-5893
The question that lingers is, if the dealer knew you were having problems and told you to bring it in why didn't they send a trailer for you? Did you notify them you were stuck?

Guess I should have read the entire thread before I responded to your first post.
Sounds like things are on the way to being rectified in your favor. Sure, it's inconvenient, dashes your enthusiasm for a bit and is a general PITA. Stuff happens when you're dealing with mass production and assembly lines. And electical problems are often elusive and sometimes boil down to trial-and-error part replacement. Sounds like at this stage everyone is doing what they're supposed to do to make things right. Hope they've got it dialed in for you.
BTW, good move resisting responding in kind to folks ragging on you. Those that've been riding for 30 - 40 years know it's not what you ride, it's THAT you ride. Personally, I've never met a motorcycle I didn't like.

I'm sorry you are having problems wit your Harley, don't pay any mind to those who have running bikes, they would be peed if they had to call for a tow on a new bike. Most of the people here will help you out, there is always the exception. I told the dealer when I bought mine that if I ever had a problem with the bike it was going to the nearest Yamaha shop and I would get myself another Venture. I had 3 of them and never had a problem with any one of them. Put a total of 279,000 miles on the first, 132K on the second and traded the 3rd. for the 09 Ultra with only 27K miles.
Make the dealer fix it, call the Harley rep and look into the lemon law for your state. Also the BBB.
Thanks for all the feedback, we appreciate it.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
The best you get is $100 for a tow through HOG. That will expire in 1 year if you don't keep your HOG dues up. You can upgrade your HOG package for an added cost.
And the HUSTLE goes on..........
