First they said the CB module was bad. They disconnected it and were ordering another one. Now they say the module is fine and it is the voltage regulator. First the battery would just drain down from sitting a day or two. We had the 1000 mile service done, that's when they disconnected the CB module and tested the system. We got the bike back and rode for about 200 miles and the system stopped charging the battery, so now they are saying it is the voltage regulator. I hope they are right this time.
Do you have another dealer in the area? I would try a different shop. Unless you bought an extended service plan, they will all work on the bike just the same.
Purchased the bike in Morgantown,WV which is 3 hrs from our home. It is now being serviced in Gettysburg,PA
I'm familiar with both dealerships. The guys in Morgantown really know bikes. I don't know the service department in Gettysburg. Find out if they have a master tech. The lack of one is very telling.
I hope that all goes well with your ride once returned from the dealer. I would without question take it to another dealer if problems continue. Dont let this experience ruin your decision.
You have a great bike that needs to be "tweeked". Lets face it. These are machines regardless of make and have the ability for component failure.
Once it is repaired PROPERLY you will look back and wondewr why you did not make this choice sooner.
Ride safe and welcome
The quality of the service techs makes a huge difference. I'm not even going to begin to list all the problems I had. I'll leave it at I damn near drove the bike through the front window of Naples HD. I now have the bike serviced at Zanotti's. The techs are old school but I never have any problems with the bike.
