Not a single problem (touch wood) with my '09 Ultra. Squeaky wheel gets the oil so make them fix it and don't be afraid to go direct to HD if you're not getting satisfaction.

So, you would recommend the extended warranty and not the service plan?
Well that really depends. It's not really an either or thing. The extended service plan saves you money on scheduled maintenance. If you are happy with your dealers service department it can be a good thing. The extended warranty is good if you plan to keep the bike more than two years and you don't modify your bike from stock other than cosmetic things.

Been there. More often than not, its a dealer problem.
First they said the CB module was bad. They disconnected it and were ordering another one. Now they say the module is fine and it is the voltage regulator. First the battery would just drain down from sitting a day or two. We had the 1000 mile service done, that's when they disconnected the CB module and tested the system. We got the bike back and rode for about 200 miles and the system stopped charging the battery, so now they are saying it is the voltage regulator. I hope they are right this time.
Last year when we were coming back from a ride to Arkansas, one guys bike died out in the middle of nowhere. It was an '06 Ultra with less than 10K miles. The voltage regulator went out on it. I got bit by a ranchers border collie helping him push in into the rancher's barn. Life is exciting when you ride a Harley.
We purchased a 2009 Ultra Classic 3 weeks ago and have had a lot of problems with it. No one seems to want to take responsibility for a lemon!
The bike has been in the shop 9 of the 23 days we've owned it with electrical problems. It died on the way to the dealer and had to be towed. The dealer told us to drive it in. Guess we shouldn't have listened to them, but now we have a $229 tow bill and the dealer has our bike again. This is our first Harley experience an it isn't a good one. I guess we should have stuck with the
Gold Wing, it's a 1978 and has never given us a problem.
Is anyone else having electrical problems with a 2009 Ultra?
I have an 09 Ultra and have had no problems. The bike is about as close to perfect as it could be (until I put the first scratch in it). I don't see where you are having "a lot of problems with it". You seem to have only one problem. It is an electrical problem and the electrical systems are incredibly complex.Sometimes it takes a little time to find it. If they are trying different things for you to repair it why are you saying "No one seems to want to take responsibility for a lemon"? You think a bike with one electrical problem is a lemon? Not trying to give you a hard time but I don't understand where you are coming from. Even good bikes might have a problem from time to time. Let them fix it under warrenty and ride on!
If you buy the extended service plan, do you have to go to one specific dealer?
I think the service plan is dealer-specific. It was in my case. Just getting to the end of mine, with 38K miles on the bike. I made money on this deal......
Called corporate this morning, waiting for a call back.
Now I am confused, if the bike is at the dealer and they are working to take care of the problem. Or in your words "No one seems to want to take responsibility for a lemon!" What is your gripe. Hate the guys that just love to here themselves b$%$h
