Well, I fixed my problem of the clock not advancing. It just neded to be re-set. I now have a new issue.
When I am riding and get above 2000 RPM, the voltage gauge pegs past 16, the radio cuts in and out, the odometer flashes, the speedo snaps back and forth and the red engine light comes on. When I get back to 2000 RPM it goes normal again and so on. It is fine when I am standing at idle.
The first time this happened, I looked down at my odometer and it read 66.6. This is how many miles I had put on that tank of gas.
Can someone help diagnose this or do I take the bike to the priest?

yeah, i would look at the voltage regulator first, and fast. if it is not limiting the output voltage of the alternator and sending too much through your system, then you could be looking at a very expensive, replace anything electrical type deal....
All this crap started happening after I put water on it. I will never wash it again; spray cleaner only.
Any further (inexpensive fix) ideas would be appreciated.

I think you are being very optimistic hoping for an inexpensive silver bullet fix based on the info you have given, these are complex problems that are not easy to fix "by remote control"
I hope for your sake you find someone who has experienced the self same problem, but in the meantime your most expensive fix is to ignore it and do nothing - that is for sure. Don't think a new VR is that expensive, but whatever the case, get it tested. There are some very useful instructions on the net to run this test, but that is on AN Other forum - google it.
it may end up costing you less to take it to your dealer and let him plug it in to the diagnostics reader they have. sometimes you can self diagnose and end up replacing three of the four parts that you thought needed to be replaced, only to find out that it was a bad stator plug. might be time to just bite the bullet and have them find it. you got almost twenty grand tied up, what's another c-note? just a thought.
