Question St Ignace MI. Anyone been?

Going to St Ignace / Mackinac Islands in a couple of weeks and was wondering other than the obvious (Mackinac Island) is there any good rides/sites not to miss? Checked out the stignace.com web site as well...anything else?

Appreciate the feedback

I would definatly go explore. It is very pretty up there. I just got back from the St Ignace Car show abuot a month ago very very nice place. You will really enjoy it. But go to castel rock and a light houses there that you can climb that are all within a few miles of St Ignace.

Was there August 08. Tourism was way down even then. Mackinaw City is a tourist town and the bridge stands majestically over the straights. Mackinaw Island is very picturesque from boat. It is cheaper to stay in St Ignace and is a very nice town. We had no reservations before we left-hotels easily found.

Ride up to Saulte Ste Marie and see the locks. SW of there is Tusquemanaha Falls (spelling?) and ride to the shipwreck museum at Whitefish Bay Point on Lake Superior.

Also you need to eat at the "pancake house" in Mackinaw city. Very good breakfast. Also if you go out of mackinaw city there are some very cheap nice right on the water hotels right there. Go past the bigger hotels till you get to I think its M21 and turn left there are a whole bunch of cheap quaint hotels there that are cheap. You can see the bridge and island right from your room at most of them...

Went thru twice on Saturday. Eat at the KEYHOLE in Mackinaw City. Lots of "touristy" things to do.. The Mystery Spot is still cool. Lots of scenic overlooks on US 2 just out of town. The Tunnel of Trees will be right on your way unless your taking I 75 (which would be a BIG MISTAKE). A lot of small town charm to be seen if you follow US31 north. I live 45 minutes from the bridge, this is a weekly ride for me.

Its nice riding up there, just make sure you know that you can't ride ON Mackinaw Island, unless its a peddle bike. The tunnel of trees isn't too far down the road from Mackinaw and is a nice ride.
